The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has consistently supported the pursuit of scientific advancement since its establishment in 1932. JSPS is now Japan’s one and only funding agency that carries out multi-pronged programs of scientific promotion across the whole spectrum of fields from the humanities and social sciences to natural sciences. It supports for both research and exchange based upon the free ideas of the researchers themselves. Among its centerpiece programs, JSPS carries out various initiatives aimed at developing world-class research hubs in the Asian region on par with those of North America and Europe.
The HOPE Meetings are held as part of "Strategic Program for Building an Asian
Science and Technology Community," which is operated by JSPS with funding
support from Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)
